Walking in the streets of Stockholm, Sweden I came upon these iron work railings and lamps. The entire city, especially the old town, is full of this kind of workmanship.

I am about to post images from a wedding in England. The day before, I took a walk with the bride and groom along the southern coast to see the Seven Sisters, a series of white cliffs on the Sussex Heritage Coast.
The bride and groom are getting ready to head to the church in Ripe, England. I was outside the farm house, taking a few details when I looked up to see the groom looking out the window while his beautiful bride readied herself in the room next door.

Sometime after the sun dropped in Iceland, someone in the area started yelling, look at the sky. There was a strange, glowing cloud wiggling its way through the sky. I had no idea it was the Northern Lights. Until I took a photo of it. Then it lit up green and purple. I knew what I was seeing.

From the very top of the Cathedral of St. Stephan in Vienna, which is a very long climb, you not only get a lovely view of the city, but of the beautiful shingle work on the roof. I love the graphic design on this rooftop and enjoy letting my eyes wander around catching the discolored shingles. Isn't that the natural yearning of the human mind, to look at a pattern and then to stick on the anomalies in that pattern. The real trick to being a better human is not to ignore the differences in the pattern, but to see them and appreciate how useful they are to the overall composition of the whole. And yes, even the big interruptions in the pattern are valuable to the composition. Don't destroy the rooftop because the green shingles are not all the correct color of green, or because some of the grey shingles kept too much of their original blue.
